The company has partnered with Tobu Top Tours, a prominent Japanese travel agency. This collaboration focuses on developing tokens and a robust payment system built on the XRP Ledger. The goal is to provide a seamless payment experience for tourists.
Tokenized Payments for Travel Experiences
Under this agreement, SBI Ripple Asia will issue tokens on the XRP Ledger. These tokens will enable customers to pay for a wide range of tourism-related activities, including accommodations, dining, and retail purchases. Tobu Top Tours will play a key role in expanding the network of participating businesses and promoting the platform, potentially utilizing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in their marketing efforts.
Wider Applications Beyond Tourism
While initially focused on the burgeoning tourism industry, SBI Ripple Asia plans to extend the use cases of this payment system. The company aims for a launch of the system in the first half of 2026.
