Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has recently voiced strong support for former President Donald Trump’s stance on digital assets. His comments, shared on social media platform X, emerged shortly after Caroline Ellison, former CEO of Alameda Research, was released from federal custody.
Bankman-Fried specifically commended Trump’s approach, stating he was “right on crypto.” Conversely, he criticized current President Joe Biden, alleging that his administration “bungled crypto.”
Speculation Arises Over Pardon Intentions
These public endorsements of Trump have fueled speculation regarding Bankman-Fried’s future intentions. His recent media engagements, including an interview with the New York Sun and an appearance with political commentator Tucker Carlson, have led some observers to believe he may be seeking a presidential pardon.
Ellison’s release from federal custody occurred just days before Bankman-Fried’s recent posts. She had served approximately 440 days in prison following her involvement in the 2022 collapse of FTX.
